Here Are the Coolest Moments From E3’s VR-Packed Monday

E3 2016 is in full swing, with virtual reality front-and-center for many developers and companies. We saw confirmation for new and improved systems from Sony, Oculus and even Microsoft – the latter of which looks to finally be getting into virtual reality. There are also plenty of exciting games to look forward to, including VR games for Batman, Final Fantasy and Serious Sam.

Sony was definitely the VR winner of the day, announcing the release date of its new headset as well as 50 games the new system will start with. Here’s some of the highlights from the day.

Oculus Touch launches this year with 30 games

Oculus announced the upcoming release of Oculus Touch, its much-anticipated consumer VR system that will use motion controllers. The new system will feature 30 games, 20 of which will use the new controllers.

Microsoft gets VR support

Microsoft may not be in the virtual reality game just yet, but it’s making strides. The company revealed its upgraded console, called Project Scorpio, coming out Holiday 2017. No word what VR HMD it will use, but early reports suggest HTC Vive support.

Bethesda bringing ‘Fallout 4’ and ‘Doom’ to VR

Bethesda gave some early indications that it’s looking to give Doom andFallout 4 new life in virtual reality. The news is still in the early stages, with no confirmation how the games will transition to VR.

Minecraft VR players to get cross-over with non-VR platforms

Anyone enjoying Minecraft on Gear VR will soon be able to play with others on Xbox Live and Windows 10. Microsoft announced cross-play with other platforms, which is exciting news for anyone wanting to collaborating on big projects.

Sony confirms release date for PlayStation VR

Sony might just be the VR winner of E3 2016. The company made some big announcements during this year’s E3 press conference, including the release date of its own virtual reality. PlayStation VR comes out in the U.S. on Oct. 13 with 50 games, including Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Batman: Arkham VR.
