To all music fans, this is it! Music and Virtual reality are joining into a new partnership. As a fan of music throughout my entire life, I watched music following various trends concerned with fashion, lifestyle, and telling a story. And now it has come time for music to join the technology platform of Virtual Reality. What’s so exciting is that the two things I am most passionate about, music and virtually reality, are fusing together. Now imagine the stories we will be able to experience as well. And let’s be honest…who hasn’t dreamt about being in a music video with your favourite band? Now you can!
The band behind this amazing connection is Boston rock n’ roll band Aloud. They have announced tour dates in support of Falling Out of Love: The Virtual Reality Experience. The band will headline events in Boston, San Francisco, and Los Angeles (the tour dates and venues are listed below).
Falling Out of Love: The Virtual Reality Experience is Aloud’s most ambitious project to date — an immersive virtual reality music video for their new song “Falling Out of Love.” The song foretells the end of a long-term relationship, and the video concept introduces a sci-fi element, placing the viewer in the middle of the action and forcing us to consider the impact of technology on the modern relationship.
The project and its director Skye Von are the recipients of the 2016 Indiegogo/NY Media Center Fellowship. Said Von: “No other medium will force you to be more present in the moment than VR. Gone is the fourth wall. With VR, we can drop directly into the action, so you will hitch a ride with one of our characters, letting their journey become your own.”
The Falling Out of Love: The Virtual Reality Experience creative team includes director Skye Von, producer Tanya Leal Soto, music producer Charles Newman, and the band Aloud — fronted by Henry Beguiristain and Jen de la Osa. It marks one of the first Indiegogo campaigns in support of a virtual reality music video.
